On some Samsung models, Pluto TV appears directly in the Smart Hub. On others, the app remains elusive, even after multiple searches. The issue does not always stem from the television itself, but often from the region set in the system settings. Before making any changes, it’s wise to check two specific elements to avoid wasting time.
Region and Samsung model: the two filters blocking Pluto TV
Pluto TV adapts its catalog and the availability of its app to local broadcasting rights. In France, the app is normally accessible, but the country configured on the television takes precedence over the actual country. A Samsung purchased abroad or one whose region has been manually changed may hide the app in the Smart Hub without displaying any error message.
On the hardware side, Samsung TVs running Tizen sold from 2017 onwards are compatible in supported regions. For an older model, the app will not be available for download. You can find the model year in the serial number displayed in the settings under “About this TV.”
If you have already gone through our tips for Pluto TV on Samsung, you know the basic steps to follow. The step that most often causes issues is checking the region, not the installation itself.
To correct the region, go to Settings > General > System Manager > Language and Region. Selecting “France” and then restarting the television is usually enough to make the app reappear in the Smart Hub catalog.

Download Pluto TV from the Samsung Smart Hub
Once compatibility is confirmed, installation takes a few minutes. Grab the remote, open the Smart Hub (the Home button on recent models), and navigate to the Apps section.
- In the app store’s search bar, type “Pluto TV” and confirm. The app appears with its distinctive blue logo.
- Select “Install.” The download starts automatically, and the app is placed on the Smart Hub’s home screen.
- Open Pluto TV. No account is required to watch live channels.
If the search returns no results, check that the television is properly connected to the internet. An Ethernet cable plugged directly into the TV provides a more stable connection than Wi-Fi, especially on entry-level models where the wireless chip may be unreliable.
When the app still doesn’t appear
Feedback varies on this point, but clearing the Smart Hub cache sometimes resolves the blockage. You can access this option in Settings > Support > Auto Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub. The TV will then ask for the PIN code and reload the app store from scratch.
This action does not delete image or sound settings. It only resets the application interface to its initial state. All apps will need to be redownloaded after the reset.
Live channels and on-demand catalog on Pluto TV
Pluto TV operates on a FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) model. Specifically, there are two distinct viewing modes that do not provide access to the same content at the same time.
Live channels follow a continuous programming schedule, just like traditional broadcast television. You may come across a program in progress, with no option to rewind. The program guide, accessible from the main menu, allows you to see what is currently airing on each channel and what is coming up next.
The on-demand catalog includes movies and series that you can start whenever you want, with integrated commercial breaks. A program aired on a live channel may not necessarily be available in the VOD section, and vice versa. This discrepancy often surprises users at first.

Navigate the program guide with the Samsung remote
The Samsung remote allows you to switch between Pluto TV channels like a traditional bouquet. The up/down directional buttons change channels, and the OK button displays details of the current program. To access the full guide, press the left button from the viewing screen.
The interface groups channels by category (movies, series, news, entertainment). Adding a channel to favorites speeds up daily navigation, especially when the number of available channels exceeds one hundred.
Updates and stability of Pluto TV on Samsung
Tizen firmware updates can change the Smart Hub interface and, in some cases, affect the operation of Pluto TV. Keeping the television updated reduces crashes and display bugs. Check for updates in Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now.
Pluto TV also publishes its own updates via the Samsung app store. When the app closes unexpectedly or the image freezes, the first thing to do is check that you are using the latest version. Deleting the app and then reinstalling it is the most reliable method to force the update when the automatic notification does not trigger.
Wired or Wi-Fi connection for Pluto TV streaming
Streaming on Pluto TV consumes less bandwidth than paid platforms. A stable Wi-Fi connection is sufficient in most setups. If you experience stuttering or regular interruptions, switching to a wired connection via an Ethernet cable improves stability without changing your box or plan.
Installing Pluto TV on a Samsung television remains an accessible task, provided you don’t get stuck on the region issue. Once this hurdle is cleared, the app functions like any other app in the Smart Hub, with the added benefit of offering free channels without subscription or commitment.
